Dear Colleague,

We would like to invite you to the next General Assembly of the Belgian Association for Cardio-thoracic Surgery that will take place at the Sodehotel- Woluwe, Avenue F. Mounierlaan 5, B-1200 Brussels on Saturday 10 November 2001 at 8.30 - 9.45 hrs (registration at 8.00 hrs).

The General Assembly will be held just prior to the 6th Congress on Cardio-Thoracic Surgery organized by our Association. I would like to urge all members to attend this business meeting as important topics will be further discussed and a new Board of Directors 2001 - 2004 will have to be elected.

According to the bylaws of our Association, every active member (excluding junior, senior and honorary members) having paid the annual contribution will have one vote and may carry one procuration.

Please find enclosed the Agenda of this year's business meeting, the Minutes of the 2000 meeting, a proposal for modification of article 5 in the Internal rules and Regulations, a list of Candidates for the New Board, a list of Candidate Members, one procuration form, and the 2001 Membership Directory.

Following the decision taken by the Board on 15-03-2001, a new Professional Committee (chairman F. Wellens) will be created. Interested members for this Committee are requested to submit their candidacy at the time of the General Assembly (see point 7 of the agenda).

Finally, we would like to invite you and your partner to attend the yearly Banquet that will take place in the famous fish restaurant "Scheltema", Predikherenstraat 7, rue des Dominicains, B-1000 Brussels. This year Prof Dr R. Vanmaele will give a lecture during the dinner on "Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Disorders in Art and History".
