BACTS session on Cardio-Thoracic Transplantation, 2 May 2003, Ostend
The Board has decided to participate in the 4th Belgian Surgical Week organized by the Royal Belgian Society for Surgery in the Thermae Palace Hotel in Ostend, 1-3 May 2003. The topic of the BACTS session will be "Cardio-Thoracic Transplantation". This session will take place on Friday, 2 May 2003 from 8.30 - 10.30 hours. Please find enclosed a copy of the Programme, also available online. BACTS members can register at a special rate. Deadline for early registration is fixed on 31 March 2003. Please find enclosed a registration form that you can fax to the Congress Organizer, Medicongress.

8th Congress on Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 15 November 2003, Brussels
The 8th Congress on Cardio-Thoracic Surgery will this year take place on Saturday, 15 November 2003 at the Sodehotel-Woluwe, B-1200 Brussels. This year's invited speaker will be Prof Ph. Dartevelle (Marie Lannelongue Hospital, Le Plessis Robinson, France). He will give a lecture on "Surgery for Pulmonary Hypertension". Abstracts for this year's Congress are already welcomed and should be send to Dr Y. Van Belleghem, Chairman Scientific Committee BACTS, Dienst Cardiochirurgie, UZ Gent, De Pintelaan 185, B-9000 Gent. Please find enclosed the instructions for abstract submission. The deadline for receipt of abstracts is fixed on 1 July 2003.
Call for new Candidate Members
New candidate members are invited to send their application form to Dr L. Haenen, chairman Membership Committee BACTS, Dienst Cardiovasculaire & Thoracale Heelkunde, Imeldaziekenhuis, Imeldalaan 9, B-2820 Bonheiden. Applicants should use the official BACTS form available online. A copy of the application form is enclosed in this mailing. The deadline for receipt of new applications is fixed on 1 September 2003.
Membership fee 2003
The membership fee for this year is fixed to 50,00 euro for ordinary members and 25,00 euro for junior members. You will be invited to pay your annual fee via a separate mailing from our treasurer, Dr F. Wellens in the coming months.
