10th Congress on Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 19 November 2005, Brussels
The 10th anniversary congress will take place at the Sodehotel-Woluwe on Saturday November 19.
For this special occasion, two well-known invited speakers have agreed to join the meeting.
We will welcome Dr. Andrew Wechsler, Professor and Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and Chief Editor of The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
In addition, Dr. Joel Cooper from the Washington University School of Medicine will be present to address a general thoracic topic.

Clearly, this anniversary edition of the congress will be followed by a dinner for all members. We would like you to block the date well in advance.
Abstracts for this year’s Congress are already welcome. The deadline for receipt of abstracts is fixed on July 1, 2005. The abstract form can be found on the web and should be send to Y. Van Belleghem, Chairman Scientific Committee BACTS, Dienst Cardiochirurgie, UZ Gent, De Pintelaan 185, B-9000 Gent.

Website update
The BACTS website (http://www.bacts.org) has a new look !
The website remains the easiest way of communication.
The new ‘who is who’ page provides the current committee members and shows the year of commencement of this membership. Committee members, as well as board members, serve in terms of 3 years, renewable once.
Accreditation in Cardiac Surgery
The accreditation committee of the BACTS, under the presidency of I. Rodrigus, has obtained important progress in the creation of a specific competence in Cardiac Surgery.
Please find enclosed the letter of Prof. Rodrigus on this important subject. At this moment the High Council for Surgery is working on the details to finalise the documents.
It is important to inform our members in training to start already with the logbooks.
