ADDING LINKS AND IMAGES

Links
  • Use the link button Insert Link Button to add links. If the button is greyed out it indicates that links are not allowed within the data field. If you think this is an error, try clicking in a different data field and then back to the one in question.
  • In the Insert Link window whatever is entered in the Text field is what will appear in the link on the article page. For example, if you would like the title of a page to appear as the link to the page, then enter the title in the Text field, navigate to the folder containing the page, and in the right half of the window place a check mark in the box next to the page.
  • Use the External tab in the Insert Link window to create and add links to pages not found within the Collage system. Please provide a Name that will make it easy for others to locate and reuse this link. The URL type should be selected from the pull-down box. The 'http://,' 'mailto:,' etc. should not be included with the URL entered.
  • Note: Some data fields may have restricted Link settings. The External tab and/or the button to add new links may not appear, or a limited number of folders within the Collage system may be displayed for Internal links. These restrictions were imposed by the system administrators and are not an error.
Images
  • Use the image button Insert Image Button to insert images within data fields. If the button is greyed out it indicates that images are not allowed within the data field. If you think that is an error, try clicking in a different data field and then back to the one in question.
  • In the Insert Image window navigate to the folder containing the image and in the right half of the window place a check mark in the box next to the image. Preview the image by placing the mouse cursor over the icon to the left of the file name. Click the icon in the top right corner to toggle between List View and Icon View. When in Icon View thumbnail versions of the images will be displayed.
  • When in the Insert Image window if the New Image button is not greyed out then new images can be uploaded to the system and used. When a new image is added in the Insert Image window the file name is automatically used as the image Name and can not be changed from this window. Before entering the Insert Image window, please give the image file a descriptive file name that will make it easy for others to locate and reuse this image.
  • Provide a description of the image in the Alt field. This will be used in the alt field of the img tag.
  • Width and Height of the image can be changed in the Insert Image window. This does not change the original image stored on the server--it applies only to use of the image in the current data field in the current article. When resizing the image Constrain Proportions should always be checked.
  • If the image is being added to an image data field (rather than to a rich text field) Padding should not be used. The pages have been carefully designed and formatted with the necessary spacing already included--any additional Padding may 'break' the page display.
